Fried pies, chocolate and a Davis detour
Two well-established food stops to investigate, with room for a proper meal and the journey between them.
Find the original pie stop
Arbuckle Mountain Fried Pies lists its Davis flagship at 4145 US Highway 77 South. Its other locations mean a search for the brand can lead somewhere else, so save the address before driving. Chickasaw Country also identifies this Davis stop near I-35 Exit 51.
Look at the current choices when ordering and ask about ingredients if dietary requirements matter. Decide whether the stop is a snack or part of lunch; a treat does not automatically replace the meal your group needs for the rest of an outdoor day. Treat Bedré as a shop visit first
Bedré Fine Chocolate is another Davis-area stop, near I-35 Exit 55. At our 25 September 2026 source review, the official visit page said the retail store was open but the manufacturing viewing window was covered. It offered educational material in place of the view.
The same page contains older general descriptions of seeing the production floor. Give the current notice priority, and check directly if that experience is the reason for your trip. Do not promise children a guided tour or live chocolate-making demonstration.
Plan how purchases will travel
Ask the business how to carry and store what you buy, particularly in warm weather or on a long journey. Keep a takeaway secure and avoid leaving heat-sensitive food in a parked vehicle. Check the packaging and ask staff about specific ingredients rather than assuming that every item from the same brand is suitable.
Leave enough time to stop, order and eat comfortably. If the day includes a fixed admission or activity, place the flexible food stop on the other side of it. Confirm opening arrangements for the actual date, not just the brand’s general listing.
Build a day around one main destination
